Sign Language USA, LLC, (SLUSA) was established in 1986 by Dr. Richard F Rosen, a former Gallaudet professor who promoted the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
Sign Language USA was created originally to serve the deaf community by providing in person interpreters in a multitude of fields and venues, including but not limited to; government agencies, medical, legal, educational, and various community settings.
As time went on and it became apparent that there was also a need to provide not only sign language but spoken foreign language interpreting for the limited English population. Communication access is important for everybody regardless of the language they use and so in 2012 SLUSA launched its foreign language interpreter services as well. While the official name remains as Sign Language USA, we prefer SLUSA (“slew-sah”) to help avoid any confusion and to acknowledge that we service all language needs.
Leading the way, our sign language interpreter services have an impeccable record of reliability and excellence. SLUSA utilizes hundreds of Sign Language and foreign language Interpreters who are highly qualified and/or certified with special credentials to perform all the necessary services required of our clients.
Upholding its set standards for quality, and looking forward to serving her nationwide clientele and customers in the greater DC, Virginia and Maryland areas, SLUSA strives to meet the interpreting and communication needs of all individuals. SLUSA’s quality control standards are unparalleled.
