Communication Access Real-Time Translation (CART) is the process of having physical captioning of spoken word onto either smaller (computer screen) or larger (Event screen) platforms.
This option is beneficial for meetings or classes where an individual may not understand sign language or is limited English proficient or just prefers the additional support of written word. Larger venues with on stage presenters typically have a large screen to broadcast the stage’s activities for those in the back who cannot see. Captions can be added to the screen as well.
Our CART services are remote which means the captioner would either call into the meeting via telephone or listen to a presenter over microphone. The captioning would appear on whichever screen was logged into the service.
Transcripts of the even are typically available within 24 hours for rough copy.
